World Hepatitis Day is commemorated annually on July 28 to raise awareness of viral hepatitis, an inflammation of the liver that causes a range of health problems hep c trust forum, including liver cancer.
There are five main strains of the hepatitis virus: A, B, C, D and E. Together, hepatitis B and C are the most common cause of death, with 1.4 million lives lost every year. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic hep c forum uk, viral hepatitis continues to claim thousands of lives every day.
This year’s theme is “Future without hepatitis uk hepc forum”, with a strong focus on the prevention of hepatitis B (HBV) among mothers and newborns. On July 28, WHO will publish new recommendations on preventing mother-to-child transmission of the virus. HBV can be prevented among infants through the use of a safe and effective vaccine.
