The EU must take a leading role in the fight against viral hepatitis, says Professor Dominique-Charles Valla, of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL). On behalf of EASL and from a doctor’s perspective, Valla speaks of the “devastating effects of hepatitis B and C on our patients”, because many people are diagnosed too late.
- “If diagnosed in time, however, viral hepatitis patients can lead a perfectly normal and healthy life. This is why we support we support ELPA’s call for a council recommendation on hepatitis screening as a way to ensure that this disease is diagnosed and treated at an early stage.“
